Memorial tablet to People's Writer of Kyrgyzstan Kazat Akmatov opened in London

AKIPRESS.COM - Memorial tablet to People's Writer of Kyrgyzstan Kazat Akmatov opened in London in honor of his 80th birthday, the Eurasian Creative Guild reported June 30. Kazat Akmatov became the first Turkic-speaking writer to be honored with the memorial tablet in the UK.
The memorial tablet was established at the Mercury Shopping Centre in London. The opening ceremony of the memorial tablet was held as part of the IX Open Eurasian Literary Festival & Book Forum and the Romford/ECG Film Festival. More than 40 people attended the event, including representatives of the embassies of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.
Kazat Akmatov was one of the contemporaries of Chingiz Aitmatov. He is the author of the Arhat: Roman (2007), Munabiya (2013), Howl (2014) and other books.
