AKIPRESS.COM - Ayaal Lazarev, a freestyle wrestler from Kyrgyzstan, is going to attend the Tokyo Olympics after Indian Sumit Malik tested positive for doping, the Kyrgyz Wrestling Federation said. During the 2021 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament in Bulgaria, Lazarev lost to Indian wrestler in the first round. After disqualification of Indian wrestler Lazarev became the owner of the license to the Olympics.
Lazarev competed at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and finished at 15th place. Back then, he also won his Olympic license because of his opponent's doping.
This license is Kyrgyzstan's 17th. Earlier, Aisuluu Tynybekova, Aiperi Medet Kyzy, Meerim Jumanazarova, Atabek Azisbekov, Jolaman Sharshenbekov, Akzhol Makhmudov, Uzur Juzupbekov, Ernazar Akmataliyev (all wrestling) and Vladimir Zoloev (judo), Daria Maslova, Yulia Andreeva, Maria Korobitskaya (running, marathon), Roman Petrov (fencing), Bakdoloot Rasylbekov (weightlifting), Kanykey Kubanychbekova (shooting) and Denis Petrashov (swimming) won their licenses to the Olympics.
