MP Abjaliev probed for illegal wealth reimburses almost $590,000 damage

AKIPRESS.COM - MP Aliyarbek Abjaliev compensated 50 million soms (around $590,000) damage for the national budget, State National Security Committee Chairman Kamchibek Tashiev told a press conference.
Ex-MP Marat Amankulov also has reimbursed 50 million soms damage, he added.
Ex-MP Janysh Kudaibergenov has reimbursed 75 million soms. The damage is preliminarily estimated at 150 million soms. "He has reimbursed a half of the damage. Another paid will be compensated soon," Tashiev said.
In March 2021 the State National Security Committee said criminal probe was launched against Aliyarbek Abjaliev concerning illegal wealth. Abjaliev reportedly used his relation with then President Sooronbai Jeenbekov (his son is married to Jeenbekov's daugher) and interfered into work of government agencies, lobbied interests.
Abjaliev left Kyrgyzstan for Turkey in January 2021. On June 28 it became known that he returned to Kyrgyzstan.
