AKIPRESS.COM - Hopefully, Kyrgyzstan will receive vaccines through COVAX program in mid-August, Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said. He reminded Kyrgyzstan joined this program in September 2020.
"We submitted the national vaccination program. We could receive donation of vaccines for 20% of country population, which are 2.6 million doses. We were supposed to receive vaccines from India. But we were rejected after India said it lacks vaccines itself," the Health Minister said.
Kyrgyzstan then asked vaccines from South Korea, since they have a plant producing AstraZeneca vaccines. But South Korea said they do not have enough either, the Health Minister said.
"We will receive vaccines from Switzerland eventually. We hope vaccines will arrive in mid-August," Minister Beishenaliev stated.
