UNHCR to continue technical and humanitarian assistance for Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to UN and other international organizations in Geneva, Almazbek Beishenaliev, met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
Ambassador Beishenaliev noted a high level of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNHCR. He also thanked Filippo Grandi for assistance provided to Kyrgyzstan amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Projects run by UNHCR in Kyrgyzstan, prospects of cooperation in protectio of rights of refugees, refuge seekers and further prevention of statelessness were discussed at the meeting.
Ambassador Beishenaliev asked to consider possibility of assistance in form of equipment and supplies for liquidation of implications of natural disasters, equipment for field hospitals and refugee camps, internally displaced persons.
Filippo Grandi praised cooperation between UNHCR and Kyrgyzstan, expressed readiness to continue providing all possible technical and humanitarian assistance to Kyrgyzstan.
The proposals of Kyrgyzstan will be considered, he said.
