Turkmenistan locks down districts amid deterioration of COVID-19 situation

AKIPRESS.COM - The travel between districts in Lebap region of Turkmenistan was halted due to deterioration of epidemiological situation. It is impossible to travel from Farab district to Turkmenabad, Seidi, Hojambaz, Deinau, turkmen.news reported.
"All bridges and roads are blocked by traffic police, police and National Security Ministry officers," a local said.
"Residents of Farab working outside district can't get to their work. Workers of government agencies are on unpaid week-long leave. Those working in private companies or selling at market remained without incomes," the local said.
All markets, restaurants, cafes are closed in Lebap region. Police officers on roadblocks say these restrictions wll last until July 17.
All parks and indoor children's amusement centers are closed in Turkmenabad since July 10. Control over mask wearing was tightened, RFE/RL reported.
These restrictions are explained by police officers unofficially with surge in coronavirus cases. They say the number of infected people grew in Farab, Deinau, Turkmenabad. The official information is not provided. Turkmen authorities say no coronavirus cases were registered in the country.
