AKIPRESS.COM - Specialists in Kyrgyzstan are ready for domestic production of coronavirus vaccines, Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said at the session of the Parliament on July 14.
The Health Minister said they are looking for money now to open the vaccine bottling plant.
"There is such plant in Karaganda, Kazakhstan and following their example we want to open vaccine production plant," he said.
MP Kaldarbek Baimuratov said this issue needs to be resolved. "All money from the public budget will be spent for purchase of vaccines otherwise," the lawmaker said.
"Coronavirus has come and will stay for a long time. There are other diseases and vaccines are also needed to prevent them. This is why we need such plant," Health Minister Beishenaliev said.
MP Ermamat Tagaev asked the Health Minister whether production of vaccine or bottling is planned.
"If we start bottling first like in Kazakhstan, it would be good to receive Sputnik V at around $10," the Health Minister replied.
"Production of vaccine is uneasy. You should think well. Probably, we need just to launch vaccine bottling plant," MP Tagev said.
Health Minister Beishenaliev said other countries create joint ventures and produce vaccine.
"It is a lossmaking business to produce vaccine in the country with 6 million population," MP Tagaev said.
