AKIPRESS.COM - The Central Asian states and Russia will hold a series of drills on the border with Afghanistan, Izvestiya reported.
Central Military District Troops Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Lapin said 9 joint international drills are planned on the territory of Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan until October.
The drills are planned for August and September at military training grounds in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The main emphasis in the drills will be made on fight against illegal armed groups, counteraction to attempts to destabilize situation in the region. The series of drills will conclude with the Peace Mission 2021 drill.
Motorized rifle and mountain units, airmobile units, special forces, aviation and artillery, as well as air defense forces will take part in the drills.
