AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan registered 23,500 crimes in January-June 2021, which is 1.5 times more than in the previous year, the National Statistical Committee reported with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office.
Most crimes (over 61%) were committed in Bishkek and Chui region.
Over 2,000 or 11.6% of crimes account for grave crimes. Compared to January-June 2020, crimes grew 1.6 times, including 2.1-fold growth of fraud, 1.5-fold increase in thefts and 24.5% leap in robberies.
Murders grew by 26%, rapes and attempted rapes grew by 34%.
Power abuse is reported to have grown by 36%. Embezzlement and appropriation leaped 2.2 times, bribery grew 1.4 times.
Drug trafficking grew by 23%.
The highest surge in crime rate is reported in Issyk-Kul region (2.4 times), Osh (1.7 times), Osh region (1.5 times), Bishkek (1.4 times).
