Parliament of Kyrgyzstan passes Children's Code

AKIPRESS.COM - The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan today passed the Children's Code and seven related bills in 3 readings.
The Children's Code envisions approaches to regulation of relations in protection of rights of children. It is aimed to improve legislative mechanisms to identify children in difficult life situation and their families, prevent and improve their situation, guaranteed protection of rights and lawful interests of children, Committee Chairperson Gulkan Moldobekova said.
MP Asel Koduranova, author of the bill, said it was initiated back in 2017 and the group of authors worked on every detail of the Children's Code for the last 4-5 years and took into account all suggestions.
"We resolved the issue with financing together with government representatives. The Ministry of Finance agreed to allocate around 100 million soms since January 1, 2023," MP Koduranova said and added these funds will be spent for 770 social workers and their salaries.
Lawmakers said children's social protection system needs to be improved.
