Tokayev says results of Kazakhstanis at Tokyo Olympics do not correspond to money poured on sports

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, spoke about 8 bronze medals won by Kazakhstanis at the Tokyo Olympics. "93 athletes from Kazakhstan took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. I thank the athletes who showed the will to win. Congratulations to the bronze medalists of the Olympics, this is an impressive result of their hard work," he wrote on Twitter.
"However, the final result of the national team, 8 bronze medals and 83rd place in the medal standing, does not correspond to the sports potential of Kazakhstan and the significant funds that the state invests in the development of sports," the head of state added. "We need to learn from the Tokyo Olympics and achieve results that will meet the expectations of people at the next Games in Paris," Tokayev wrote.
"It is necessary to pay attention to the development of mass and children's sports and thereby strive to achieve great success on the world arena," he wrote.
