AKIPRESS.COM - The body of UK climber of Iranian origin Mehri Jafari has not yet been found, the search is done by foreign climbers' team. Foreign climbers staying in South Inylchek base camp (a starting point for climbing the Pobeda and Khan-Tengri peaks) told about the searches.
Climbers Alex Stone, Albert Kovacs and Peter Vitez are searching for the missing climber in the territory at Pobeda Peak, a place where the climber Jafari was last seen.
Alex Stone said that together with two Hungarians who saw Mehri when she fell they went to the Dikiy glacier by helicopter and started looking for Mehri. They found a green object, and it turned out to be a sleeping bag. Due to avalanche risk, they returned to the slope.
A group of climbers returned to base camp at 8 pm on August 9.
According to Alex Stone, falling from a height of about 2,000 meters is fatal. The climber suggested that the Iranian climber Adien Reza could have passed out immediately after the fall on ice rocks.
Stone also said that group of Iranian climbers descended each alone.
