The President of Kyrgyzstan delivered a speech at Hanns Seidel Foundation in Munich to public and political figures of Bavaria in the framework of his official visit to Germany.
According to the press service of the head of state, before the speech, Sooronbai Jeenbekov met with the Chairperson of the Foundation Ursula Mannle and they talked about democratic values and human rights.
"Europe should help the reforms that are being implemented in Kyrgyzstan," said Ursula Mannle.
The head of the Kyrgyz Republic delivered a speech on the topic "Economic, social and regional stability - participation of Kyrgyzstan in the process of strengthening partnership with Europe against the background of developing relations with traditional unions."
"Kyrgyzstan is on the path of active social political and social economic transformations. The main direction is the construction of an economically developed and legal state with parliamentary democracy. Security, democracy and development are key areas for us," Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed.
According to him, security and democracy are natural and necessary conditions for the development of a person, society and the state. He also noted that democracy was not just a word for Kyrgyzstan.
"We know from the experience of modern Kyrgyzstan that building of a true democracy is not easy. But this is the only way that our people have chosen. Currently, there is political and social stability in Kyrgyzstan. This gives us the opportunity to set ambitious goals for the medium term," the president said.
He stressed that the presidential elections in 2017 were held in an open and competitive struggle. Parliamentary elections in 2020 will strengthen the democratic course of development of Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz Republic is the first country in Central Asia whose Parliament was granted "Partner for Democracy" status by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2014.
"The Kyrgyz Republic is resolutely focused on the implementation of judicial and legal reform and the reorganization of security forces. The fight against corruption remains a priority of the state policy of Kyrgyzstan. We need to actively introduce new technologies into our lives. Therefore, we pay special attention to the digitization of the country, which will give a new impetus to our development pace," stressed Sooronbai Jeenbekov.
"The Kyrgyz Republic shares values that are based on democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights and freedoms. In this regard, we attach particular importance to cooperation with the European Union, which is our important partner. We are interested in closer cooperation with the EU and its member states," Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed.
