Bishkek, Apr. 16, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met in Berlin with German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The President’s press service reported that the Federal President of Germany noted Jeenbekov’s rich experience in the agricultural sector, stressing that he is holding an exhibition on agricultural cooperatives tomorrow, which is very relevant and would be interesting for the President of Kyrgyzstan.
He stressed that Kyrgyzstan is moving progressively along the parliamentary path of democracy, and the transformations that are carried out under the presidency of Sooronbay Jeenbekov cause admiration and respect. He expressed gratitude for the continued support of the work of German foundations and projects in Kyrgyzstan.
Jeenbekov briefly described the development path and significant events taking place in Kyrgyzstan, strengthening parliamentary democracy, reforms in the judicial and law enforcement systems, improving election legislation, noting the satisfactory level of development of Kyrgyz-German relations, the importance of continuing the current pace of cooperation.
Expressing gratitude for the support of Germany, which over the years of independence rendered assistance to Kyrgyzstan in the amount of about 150 million euro, Sooronbay Jeenbekov voiced a proposal to hold the 2020 German Economy Days in Kyrgyzstan.
He also drew attention to the issue of access of competitive, high-quality Kyrgyz products to the EU market.
"Assistance is needed to strengthen the phytosanitary and veterinary laboratory in Kyrgyzstan. It is important to develop practical cooperation between agrarian cooperatives of the two countries," said the head of Kyrgyzstan.
Having voiced concerns about the melting of glaciers, the heads of state stressed the need for cooperation in the field of green technologies, since melting of glaciers is not only a problem for one region, but the whole world is concerned.
The heads of state also discussed the issues of strengthening the principles of democracy, human rights, ensuring the independence of the judiciary, the rule of law, freedom of speech.
