First official visit of Afghan Foreign Minister to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Apr. 18, 2019. / Kabar /. At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov, the first official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani to the Kyrgyz Republic took place on Apr. 18, 2019, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
During the fruitful talks that took place in an open, friendly and constructive atmosphere, the foreign ministers of the two states appreciated the current level of relations between Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan in the political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other fields.
The ministers exchanged views and visions on the further development and strengthening of Kyrgyz-Afghan cooperation, as well as topical regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The sides reaffirmed mutual support in strengthening the regional security system and jointly addressing the challenges of our time in order to establish peace as soon as possible in Afghanistan and in the region as a whole.
During the talks, particular attention was paid to the issues of supporting the ethnic Kyrgyz of the Big and Small Pamirs of Afghanistan, and ways to further jointly build up cooperation in this area were discussed.
Following the talks, Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Oleg Pankratov and Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint intergovernmental Afghan-Kyrgyz commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two governments.
A Joint Statement was also adopted, which reflects the current state of Kyrgyz-Afghan relations and the prospects for the further development of bilateral cooperation between the states.
After the signing ceremony, the foreign ministers of the two countries made a statement to the press.
During the visit, the minister of foreign affairs of Afghanistan visited the Ata-Beyit Memorial Complex and laid flowers at the monument to the memory of those killed in the tragic events of 1916 (Urkun).
