Uzbekistan to buy passenger buses for safe transportation of its migrant workers

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan intends to buy buses for around $20 million in a move to ensure safe transportation of its citizens to the countries where they work temporarily. Buses will be procured from a loan of the China Development Bank. The respective loan agreement was signed by the National Bank of Uzbekistan.
A $19.9 million loan will be provided to Uzautotrans Service for procurement of passenger buses. The agreement does not specify the quantity and manufacturer, local media report.
Uzautotrans Service is expected to transport over 818,000 passengers a year. Around 30 international routes will be launched.
Several fatal road accidents happened already, when migrant workers from Uzbekistan were killed. Some of buses reportedly transported passengers illegally and had poor technical condition.
