Kyrgyzstan, EU discuss new expanded partnership and cooperation deal

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz foreign minister Chingiz Aidarbekov met with EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian, who has arrived in Kyrgyzstan on work trip.
They discussed the ongoing negotiations on the draft of new expanded partnership and cooperation deal between Kyrgyzstan and the EU, holding of the next meting of EU-Central Asia foreign ministers in Kyrgyzstan, and upcoming visit of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini to Kyrgyzstan.
Both welcomed the outcome of the High Level Conference on Connectivity in Central Asia held on April 15-16 in Bucharest, Romania.
Aidarbekov pointed out the importance of continued EU support for the electoral reforms in Kyrgyzstan in anticipation of the elections to parliament in 2020.
The parties reiterated priority areas for cooperation in launching the integrated water resources management project in Kyrgyzstan and the EU support of the National Digital Transformation Program of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The parties also discussed cooperation in solution of problems of uranium tailings in Kyrgyzstan.
