Lawmaker proposes to ban import of Ukrainian sugar

AKIPRESS.COM - Lawmaker Baktybek Rayimkulov proposed to ban import of Ukrainian sugar to Kyrgyzstan speaking at the parliament meeting on April 25.
"Sugar is imported from Ukraine to meet interests of 2-3 people. Prime cost of sugar of our farmers is 42 soms, imported sugar costs 38 soms per 1 kg. Russia and Kazakhstan banned imports, and we should do the same," he said. Otherwise, 120,000 farmers are going to go bankrupt.
Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev said it's necessary to look at the mechanisms.
In 2018, according to PM, Kyrgyzstan exported 19,000 tons of sugar.
