Government to build sugar plants in Tokmok and Kant towns

AKIPRESS.COM - 110,000 farmers grow sugar beets in Chuy region. In 2018, sugar beet production reached 120,000 tons, said Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev at the parliament meeting on April 25.
Only 2 sugar plants work in Kyrgyzstan and they are not enough for sugar beet processing, he said.
"Naryn, Issyk-Kul and some parts of Chuy region started growing beets, but to process them, they spend a lot of money on transportation. In this regard, we decided to build sugar plants in Tokmok and Kant towns of Chuy region," he said.
Subsidizing transport costs and providing assistance to farmers is being addressed in Kyrgyzstan, he added.
