AKIPRESS.COM - Maternal mortality rate has decreased from 50.3 in 2012 to 30.3 per 100,000 live births in 2018, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund Meder Omurzakov said at the round table on the reproductive rights of women in Bishkek on April 25.
Kyrgyzstan has achieved the goals to decrease the child mortality rate, too, he said. Child mortality rate has decreased to 15.2 per 1000 births.
About 800 women globally die of lack of contraception annually, according to the Deputy Health Minister Madamin Karatayev.
The Health Ministry supplied contraceptions for women for $1.4 million as preventive measures, he said.
The number of women of reproductive age is 1,650,000. Abortion rate since 2012 decreased from 15.8 to 12.3 per 1000 women in 2018.
