Kazakh opposition party will not participate in snap presidential vote

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan's Nationwide Social Democratic Party (OSDP) had the 14th session in Almaty on April 26 to nominate a candidate to run for president in snap vote set for June 9.
The OSDP, the only party in Kazakhstan that positions itself as opposition to the government, decided not to nominate a candidate for president. Earlier, the party considered the candidacy of the member of the party's presidium, journalist Yermurat Bapi.
So far, Saybek Tugel was nominated by the public association Uly Dala Kyrandary, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev was nominated by Nur Otan party, Amangeldy Taspihov was nominated by trade union federation, Dania Yespaeva was nominated by Ak Jol party, Toleutai Rahimbekov was nominated by the People's Democratic Patriotic Party Auyl, Jambyl Ahmetbekov was nominated by the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, and Amirzhan Kosanov was nominated by the regional public organization Ult Tagdyry.
