EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian visits Osh

Osh, Apr. 27, 2019. / Kabar /. Vice Mayor of Osh Asylbek Topchubayev met on Friday with Peter Burian, the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of joint infrastructure projects in the city, as well as future plans for the development of the city.
The vice mayor stressed that the cooperation of the Osh Mayor’s Office with the EU is one of the priority areas of activity and thanked for the assistance provided in developing urban infrastructure, improving the socio-economic sphere through the implementation of projects necessary for the population.
In addition, the vice mayor noted the role of the EU in the reconstruction of the city’s water supply system. EU Special Representative Peter Burian stressed that the goal of the EU institutions is to support and develop interstate cooperation for the benefit of the people of Central Asia.
"Our goal is to develop interstate cooperation, to support our programs in the interrelation of the development of transport and other corridors through the establishment of such areas of interstate cooperation, so that they can bring people together and contribute to the development of various spheres, such as trade, industry and others. Osh can become a good symbol of good-neighborly, interethnic cooperation, and we hope that this will become not only an example for other regions of Kyrgyzstan, but also for the entire region of Central Asia," said Peter Burian.
Following the meeting, the sides noted the need to further increase joint cooperation on all relevant issues for the benefit of the city’s development.
