Bishkek, Apr. 28, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met on Sunday with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping as part of his working visit to Beijing.
Xi Jinping noted that China is committed to cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and is pleased to see its development, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.
"China has been and will be a reliable partner and friend of Kyrgyzstan. We are ready to further disclose the potential for cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road," the Chinese leader said.
He especially noted that yesterday’s speech by Sooronbay Jeenbekov at the round table of the Belt and Road Forum impressed him.
"I am very glad to have a new meeting with you. The current Forum was very successful. Of course, this happened thanks to your support too. Last year your first state visit to China was successfully held, then we announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership. Thanks to joint efforts bilateral relations are developing steadily, and I am very pleased," Xi Jinping emphasized.
The Chinese leader noted that he accepted the invitation of President Sooronbai Jeenbekov to pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan in June 2019.
Jeenbekov congratulated Xi Jinping on the successful holding of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which was held at the highest level.
He expressed confidence that its results will be historic for the entire world community and in this the personal merit of the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, noting that the initiative will bring prosperity to all the participating countries.
"I listened attentively to your speeches at the Forum. During these two days, the world heard from you simple and effective recipes for joint development and preservation of well-being on the globe. We fully share your priorities in the framework of the Green and Fair Silk Road," Jeenbekov emphasized.
The two leaders discussed the prospects for cooperation, both bilateral and within the framework of the SCO.
In particular, in the areas of transport and roads, including railway communications, interaction against terrorism and extremism, defense and security.
Also they discussed issues of increasing exports of ecologically clean agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan to China, implementing projects in Kyrgyzstan to provide the population with clean water, and developing irrigation.
The sides expressed a common position on the need to intensify cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, education and tourism.
