AKIPRESS.COM - Police detained dozens of protesters in Nur-Sultan, RFE/RL reports. The law enforcers told protesters their protest is unlawful and told them to disperse.
More than a hundred of people in Nur-Sultan marched to the Youth Palace. They were blocked by special task force officers. Police earlier randomly detained protesters and put them into buses. Protesters demanded to release those detained.
In Almaty protesters demanded a meeting with the Almaty mayor.
Protesters demand to cancel the snap presidential election set for June 9 and call them illegitimate. They say they will boycott the presidential election. They also call for parliamentary democracy and honest and transparent elections.
Kazakhstan today marks the Day of Nation Unity.
