Bishkek, May 3, 2019. / Kabar /. The People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan is the force that multiplies the values of national unity, preserving them for the future generation, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov told at a solemn event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Assembly.
During its history of existence, which today is already equal to a quarter of a century the Assembly worthily carried out its mission, President Jeenbekov said.
"At a time when Soviet laws had already lost their power, and new norms of behavior had not yet been introduced into society, the People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan worthily carried out its mission, making an invaluable contribution to the preservation of unity and harmony among the people," said Jeenbekov.
The President expressed his sincere appreciation to the Assembly for the fact that it was able to prevent a split in the inter-ethnic sphere.
"We proved our unity once again in the early 1990s against the background of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the entire socialist bloc. We all remember what sad events occurred in a number of post-socialist countries in those years. Those events became a lesson in history not only for them, but also for us," said the President.
He noted that at that time in the space of the former Soviet Union it became necessary to determine the prospects for inter-ethnic interaction in the new states.
"In Kyrgyzstan, this task was also relevant for several reasons. It was a migration outflow. There were attempts of political speculations around the problems of migration, language, dual citizenship. The consequences of the conflict events in the south of the 1990s left an imprint on the growth of tension in the sphere of interethnic interaction," Jeenbekov said.
He recalled that in search of answers to the designated challenges in 1994, the Kurultai (session) of the people of Kyrgyzstan decided to establish the Assembly, and from that moment the organization was able to occupy a unique place in the public life of the republic.
The solemn event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Assembly, attended by over 400 people.
In addition, the Kyrgyz National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet will host the IX Extraordinary Kurultay of the People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of 250 delegates from all regions of the country and 500 invited guests representing the entire multinational palette of the people of Kyrgyzstan.
Representatives of the Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia, Russia and Kazakhstan, foreign guests from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, heads of foreign diplomatic missions, representatives of all branches of government of the Kyrgyz Republic confirmed their participation in these events.
The People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan is an association designed to promote the consolidation of society based on common civil identity, preservation of cultural diversity.
