Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan, China exceeds USD 2 bln in 2018 for the first time, Abdrakhmanov

Bishkek, May 13, 2019. /Kabar/. According to the results of the last three years, China ranks first in the commodity circulation of Kyrgyzstan with the countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Abdrakhmanov said at the Expert-analytical dialogue Kyrgyzstan-China forum.
He noted that in 2018 trade between the two countries reached the highest level and amounted to USD 2 billion.
"At the same time, the inflow of direct investments amounted to USD 245.429 million. The most important and promising areas of bilateral cooperation are cooperation in the field of infrastructure and transport, energy, processing, the mining industry and also cross-border cooperation of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region-Kyrgyzstan," he said. The deputy minister also noted that the sides are implementing a number of bilateral projects, related to the issues of threats of terrorism, extremism and separatism, cyber security, organized security, the threat of drug trafficking, etc.
Abdrakhamanov noted that Kyrgyzstan and China are strategic partners. The deputy foreign minister said that the cooperation between the two countries is becoming stronger, and this is evidenced by the state visit of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to China in 2018 and the upcoming return visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
