AKIPRESS.COM - MP Akylbek Japarov demands the State Customs Service, the State Financial Intelligence Agency and the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan to raise question of wrong restrictions on money transfers from Russia to Kyrgyzstan.
In April 2019, Russian Central Bank limited the size of money transfers to Kyrgyzstan to up to 100,000 rubles per individual per month in a move reported to be aimed to fight against shadow operations such as unregistered business activities.
Speaking at the meeting of the parliament committee for budget and finances on May 13, MP Japarov reminded that the free movement of capital is the core idea of the Eurasian Economic Union. "Such restrictions introduced unilaterally undermine the basics of the EAEU and none of the Kyrgyz authorities is opposing them," he said.
The committee is considering the draft agreement on exchange of information in the fight against legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained incomes and the financing of terrorism when transferring cash and (or) monetary instruments across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union.
