Speaker Dzhumabekov: Kyrgyzstan interested in expanding cooperation with Serbia

Bishkek, May 20, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Vice Speaker of National Assembly of Serbia Veroljub Arsic on May 20 within the framework of a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO PA) in Bishkek.
Dzhumabekov warmly welcomed Arsic and expressed hope that this meeting may be a good opportunity to bring the relationship between the two countries to a qualitatively new level, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker said that the interaction between the parliaments of the two countries plays a high role in the strengthening and development of interstate relations and expressed the desire to start the process of establishing cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh and the National Assembly of Serbia.
Dzhumabekov stated that inter-parliamentary cooperation can be supported in bilateral and multilateral formats, both at the level of parliamentary leadership and at the level of parliamentary friendship groups. He also drew the attention of Vice Speaker Arsic to the fact that friendship group for cooperation with the Serbian Parliamentary was established in the Jogorku Kenesh in 2015.
Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, Dzhumabekov said that the activity in the creation of an appropriate legal framework has already started.
Dzhumabekov stressed that that work on agreement development between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Serbia on a free trade zone is currently beginning. The signing of this document should open new opportunities for the states in the future.
Vice Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Veroljub Arsic thanked Dzhumabekov for his warm welcome. He noted that the National Assembly of Serbia is interested in increasing both bilateral and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The sides also concluded that there is need to develop cooperation in the sphere of education, science, culture and tourism.
