Kyrgyzstan intends to continue contribution to SCO development, Kyrgyz FM

Bishkek, May 22, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan intends to continue making a positive contribution to tasks solution for the benefit of the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov told journalists after the meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers.
He said that one of the most important events within the framework of the Kyrgyz Republic's chairmanship in the organization - a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers was held today. Today's meeting focused on the implementation of the results of the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in 2018 and the SCO Council of Heads of Government held in Dushanbe in 2018. Priority tasks for the further development of the organization's activities were considered as a part of the preparation for the meeting of the SCO Summit which will be held on June 13-14 in Bishkek. Thus, the draft Bishkek Declaration and the draft information message on the results of the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State were adopted as a basis, the report on the work of the SCO Secretariat over the past year was approved, the draft report on the organization’s activities during the reporting period was approved, and information on the results of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) activities was heard.
"The signing of a roadmap for cooperation between the SCO Secretariat and state observers and dialogue partners in the medium term was an important outcome of the work. The sides exchanged views on current regional and international problems in the course of the meeting. The parties’ positions on these issues have been agreed upon and are reflected in the information report on the results of the meeting adopted by us, which will be circulated by the SCO Secretariat. We have noted with satisfaction the regular meeting of the SCO Afghanistan group, which resulted in the approval of the draft road map. The foreign ministers also considered this document today, which is being submitted for adoption by the heads of state for the first time," Aidarbekov said.
The minister said that the sides were pleased to note the successful holding of such events as the meeting of Secretaries of the Security Council, the meeting of Defense Ministers, the meeting of Heads of anti-drug agencies, Ministers of Culture, the SCO Business forum, the SCO Issyk-Kul forum during the presidency of Kyrgyzstan in the SCO. Also the holding of next meeting of the SCO Youth Council, the SCO Media Forum and the most important event - the summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State is planned.
"I am confident that the current meeting of the SCO Council of Ministers in Bishkek has become an important stage in the practical implementation of the priority tasks facing our organization and ensuring further progressive development of the SCO. The Kyrgyz side intends to continue making a positive contribution to the solution of our common tasks for the benefit of the SCO development," the minister concluded.
