President expresses his gratitude to development partners for their assistance in implementing clean water projects

Bishkek, May 23, 2019. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to the international development partners for their assistance in the implementation of clean water projects at the Forum "Clean Water for the Regions."
The President expressed gratitude to the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Qatar Charitable Foundation, AL-SAFA and Al-Salam Foundations for their support in providing clean drinking water to rural areas.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed that decisive steps have been taken in this direction over the past two years. The National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic was adopted, where the issue of providing the population with clean drinking water was identified as a priority. The Government was tasked with providing 100% of the country's population with clean drinking water by 2023.
Also the President noted that funds allocated for clean water projects should be used rationally, without repetition of corrupt practices that took place during the first phase of the Clean Water project.
The Head of state said that one of the most acute problems at present is the preservation of the water supply systems that have already been built and put into operation.
In this regard, Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed that the issue of providing every village with clean water will be under his personal control. All state bodies related to this issue should take personal responsibility for the quality of water supply systems.
