Atmosphere both within country and between our states depends on media’s position, President

Bishkek, May 24, 2019. /Kabar/. "The atmosphere in particular country and between our countries depends on the position and responsibility of the media," Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic said on May 24 at the opening ceremony of the SCO Media Forum.
Jeenbekov noted that media representatives do a great deal not only for the SCO countries, but for the whole world.
He stressed that one of the main tasks of the SCO is to create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect between countries and peoples.
The President added that it is the mass media that plays a huge role in the implementation of this task. The media helpы to build an open dialogue and promote mutual understanding between societies.
President Jeenbekov also mentioned the role of the media in Kyrgyzstan.
"The press in Kyrgyzstan is trusted and listened to because freedom of speech and independence of the journalist's position are longstanding traditions of our society," Sooronbay Jeenbekov said.
"The press is the voice of civil society and defines the public mood. This is a reliable mediator of the dialogue between citizens and the state authorities," Jeenbekov stressed.
"Sooner or later, people will find out about everything that's going on in the country through the media. Therefore, we can say that we do not have topics that are closed to the media. Kyrgyzstan is an open society," the head of state said.
