Kyrgyzstan seeks to find new areas of cooperation within SCO – Norov

Bishkek, May 24, 2019. /Kabar/. Vladimir Norov, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) assessed the work of Kyrgyzstan within the framework of its presidency in the Organization today during the opening of the SCO Media Forum in Bishkek.
Norov expressed his deep gratitude to the President's Office and the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan for the initiative to hold a Media Forum, which brought together leading experts in the field of mass media of SCO member states in his welcoming speech, which was delivered by the SCO Deputy Secretary General Aizada Subakozhoyeva.
In addition, he emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic, as a founding member state of the SCO, makes a significant contribution to the development of the SCO, and the current presidency of the republic in the Organization is proceeding successfully, accompanied by numerous important official events and large-scale events, such as the SCO Issyk-Kul Marathon, the SCO Women's Forum, the SCO Business Forum and today's Media Forum.
"The initiative to hold such Forums demonstrates the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to search for new areas of cooperation within the SCO and to give additional impetus to the Organization's activities. In a couple of weeks the attention of the whole world will be focused on Bishkek, where the SCO Summit will be held. An important outcome of the Summit will be the Bishkek Declaration, which will reflect the common vision of the leaders of the SCO countries on all relevant international and regional issues, including issues related to information security," the secretary general of the Organization said.
He stressed that adoption of a solid package of documents affecting virtually all aspects of SCO activities is expected at the end of the summit, in connection with which the summit in Bishkek can be confidently referred to as the main international event of the first half of this year.
"Together with the Kyrgyz side, we will strive to provide prompt and complete information support for its work. In this work, we will rely on you, dear participants of the Forum," Norov said and outlined the importance of the dialogue that took place today.
The heads of state bodies, representatives of the SCO Secretariat, leading media outlets, as well as media experts from SCO member states, observers and dialogue partners attended the Media Forum, which was held at the Ala-Archa state residence.
