Bishkek, May 27, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Ambassador to Tashkent Ibrahim Zhunusov met in Tashkent with Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan Kozimdzhan Kamilov.
At the meeting, Dzhunusov briefed about the large-scale judicial and legal reform carried out in the Kyrgyz Republic, its goals, main tasks, current results and prospects. He told about cardinal innovations that came into force on Jan. 1 of this year in criminal, administrative, criminal procedure and criminal-executive legislation, which marked a breakaway from the former judicial-legal system that had more repressive character. He noted the systematic work on the transition to digitalization in the activities of domestic courts.
In turn, Kamilov provided information on the progress of reforming the judicial system of Uzbekistan.
The sides also discussed the issues of interaction between the Supreme Courts of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. At the same time, they noted with satisfaction the active cooperation in the framework of the CIS and the SCO, as well as the contacts at the sites of conferences, round tables and other international events. We agreed that in the conditions of dynamic changes in the region and large-scale judicial reforms in our countries, it is necessary to strive for closer interaction.
Dzhunusov assured that the embassy will maintain working contacts with the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan and provide all possible assistance in further deepening cooperation between judicial bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
