Bishkek, May 31, 2019. / Kabar /. With the support of President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the national campaign "Tumar" will be started in Kyrgyzstan to prevent violence against children on June 1, on the International Children's Day.
The event will be attended by head of the President’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dosaly Esenaliev. 200 children-Manas narrators, 100 children-Komuz players and other folklore concerts are expected.
The campaign's idea is to protect children from violence, including changes in perceptions about child abuse, banning corporal punishment, and informing parents about positive parenting.
Child protection issues should be reviewed and addressed daily on a regular basis by all government agencies, local governments, non-governmental and international organizations.
This campaign is a consolidation of forces of state, international, non-governmental and public organizations. The launch of the campaign is carried out in conjunction with the United Nations Children's Fund.
The world community in 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention was ratified by Kyrgyzstan 25 years ago.
The campaign will begin on June 1 and will last until the end of 2019. Its main goal is to collect half a million signatures for refusing to forcibly raise children and promote positive parenthood.
