AKIPRESS.COM - Lawmaker Iskhak Masaliyev suggests to ban raising pensions and salaries for state workers, including doctors and teachers, ahead of elections in a move to eliminate use of administrative resources.
Raising pensions, as well as salaries for teachers and doctors, is how administrative resources are used during the elections, he said during the parliament hearings of the draft amendments to the electoral laws on June 3.
"We seek to ban this practice. Salaries for state employees are raised every time we have presidential elections," he said.
The draft amendments to the laws on election of president and parliament was developed by the working group led by the chief of staff of president's office Dosaly Esenaliyev. 25 MPs are initiators of the bill.
In a move to execute president's orders, the government has earlier suggested to raise salaries for 126,000 teachers and 50,000 doctors by 40%, as well as salaries of police officers starting from September 2019. 12 billion soms are necessary to do that.
