Jalal-Abad, June 3, 2019. /Kabar/. Kubatbek Boronov, the First Deputy Prime Minister is on a two-day working trip to Jalal-Abad Oblast.
During the trip he told journaliasts that water shortage cycle begins this year. "We planned to stop using 13.5 billion cubic meters of water. As we forecasted, the volume of water in the Toktogul reservoir today is about 14 billion cubic meters. We plan to replenish about 17 billion cubic meters of water by winter," he said.
Boronov will visit more than 10 sites during his two-day visit. Thus, on the first day of his visit Boronov visited a drainage gallery under construction for 246 km of the Bishkek-Osh highway.
"The 460-meter gallery is being built with Japanese grant. Completion is planned within three years. The fact is that this is where the majority of landslides occur," he explained.
"Today, the process of launching the second and third units is underway due to external grants and loans. Now the work on the estimate and documentation is being completed. In the near future, work will begin within the framework of the signed agreement with the EBRD on the allocation of financial resources," he said.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has allocated USD 110 million in loans. Start the process of launching the aggregates from 2020 after completion of all the procedures according to the bank's rules is planned.
The deputy prime minister also visited the Toktogul, Uch-Korgon and Kambar-Ata Hydroelectric Power Stations, where rehabilitation is planned in the future.
Kubatbek Boronov said that within the framework of rehabilitation of all these hydroelectric power plants, the production of electricity will increase from 20 to 30 %.
