AKIPRESS.COM - Former Vice Prime Minister Shamil Atahanov plea-bargained with investigators and got his pre-trial restriction changed.
Atahanov was detained in Bishkek on May 21 in connection with the probe launched into illegal release of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison.
His current pre-trial restriction form is not reported for safety reasons, the Interior Ministry said.
Batukayev was sentenced to 16.8 years in prison on August 3, 2006. He was prematurely released from prison in 2013 because of the leukemia diagnosis, which turned out to be fake. Soon after he fled the country, he was declared internationally wanted.
