ICRC to help Uzbekistan in evacuation of its citizens from Middle East conflict zones

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan's Ambassador to UN and other international organizations based in Geneva Ulugbek Lapasov on June 7 met Patrick Vial, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
ICRC welcomes the decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to return 156 citizens of Uzbekistan (48 women and 106 children) from Syria, Patrick Vial said.
ICRC will continue working with Uzbekistan in bringing back its citizens from the conflict zones. The International Committee is also ready to facilitate trainings to increase capacity of national psychologists to work with the returnees, he added.
ICRC can also help with locating people in the conflict zones in the Middle East at requests of their relatives.
UNICEF Representative Sascha Graumann said earlier that UNICEF is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in bringing back the children found in Iraq and Syria.
