President Jeenbekov meets with UN Deputy Secretary General

Bishkek, June 12, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Under Secretary General for Political Affairs of the United Nations Rosemary DiCarlo, who has arrived for participation in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The sides discussed topical issues of joint cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN.
The President expressed gratitude to the UN for its support to Kyrgyzstan's efforts to strengthen the principles of democracy and improve the electoral system.
"At present there are social and political stability in Kyrgyzstan. Parliamentary democracy is developing and the fight against corruption is continuing. I want to assure you that we do not intend to stop. We will move forward, relying on our human and personnel potential with the assistance of our partners," Jeenbekov said.
The Kyrgyz leader called on the UN to continue cooperation on digital technologies, to develop regions and increase access of rural population to clean water.
The UN Deputy Secretary General noted that this is her first visit to Kyrgyzstan and conveyed the words of greetings from the Secretary General of the Organization Antonio Guterres.
She stressed that Antonio Guterres has got warm memories of his visit to Kyrgyzstan and meetings with Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Rosemary DiCarlo conveyed his wishes for a successful holding a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states and further development of Kyrgyzstan.
Rosemary DiCarlo added that the UN considers a priority a deepening cooperation with Kyrgyzstan as a regional leader in promoting democratic principles. She also expressed readiness to provide further assistance in solving existing issues.
