Kyrgyzstan suggests creation of SCO Cultural and Integration Center

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan suggests creation of a SCO Cultural and Integration Center, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said during the SCO summit in Bishkek on June 14.
The creation of such center would contribute to developing of cultural and humanitarian ties on the SCO territory, Jeenbekov said.
"Cooperation in healthcare, sports and physical culture was given an additional momentum during our chairmanship," he said.
Jeenbekov also told about the results of the past year for the SCO. He highlighted the role of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and the entry into force of the 2017 convention on countering extremism for further ensuring security in the region.
"The SCO agenda has much in common with the UN agenda in security issues, economic development issues, and human dimension issues," Jeenbekov said.
He noted that the effective cooperation with international structures, including the UN, in the fight against trafficking in drugs sees continuation today.
"In November of last year, we held a specialized event between UN and SCO to address Afghan problems," he added.
