Subcommittee on Biotechnology under CCI created in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, June 18, 2019. /Kabar/. The first meeting of the Subcommittee on Biotechnologies was held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Kyrgyz Republic. Nurlan Musuraliyev, the Vice President of the CCI said that interest in biotechnology is growing up all over the world, it is one of the most rapidly developing scientific and technological areas.
"Considering that one of the main directions of biotechnology is agriculture, it can become a strategically important industry. We need to correctly identify priorities and mobilize resources for the development of biotechnology in our country," Musuraliyev said.
During the meeting, the vice president also introduced new Chairman of the Subcommittee Ulukman Mamytov, the business consultant, who initiated the opening of a new direction within the framework of the Kyrgyz CCI.
Mamytov said that development of biotechnology in Kyrgyzstan is very important to start with a focus on the economy, closely interacting with business. Biotechnologies are not just science, but first of all the economy. In the ever-changing economic conditions, Kyrgyzstan needs its own biotechnological research and development, its own biotechnological production and companies.
"Our small and medium-sized businesses, which development is a priority, will not be able to engage in such developments on its own. It is important to remove a part of the costs and risks of research and development," Mamytov added.
Kyrgyzstan can take into account the experience of developed countries and organize Research & Development on the basis of Kyrgyz universities, so that universities are engaged in research and development of new products that business should commercialize. The site of the CCI was chosen as an organization uniting the entire business of the country.
The Subcommittee plans to launch several successful pilot projects in the near future, which should confirm the correctness of the chosen strategy.
The selection of companies ready to become biotech producers in Kyrgyzstan will begin soon. Relevant bodies will assist them to develop innovative business projects.
