Short-term hospitalization units established in Kyrgyzstan to improve access to medical care

Bishkek, June 18, 2019. /Kabar/. Departments for short-term hospitalization of children have established in 77 Kyrgyz hospitals, Elnura Boronbayeva, the Head of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
She said that the CHIF introduced a new model of financing short-term hospitalization of children in order to improve the access to timely medical care for children from vulnerable groups of the population, as well as to optimize the provision of inpatient care for children who do not need long-term hospitalization.
"Currently, 720 short-term hospitalization beds have been opened in 77 health care organizations. The quality of medical care for children is improving," Boronbayeva said.
Besides, Elnura Boronbayeva added that treatment of TB patients at the outpatient level has been introduced in Kyrgyzstan using patient-centered approaches as part of the TB control strategy.
The patient has the opportunity to take the medicine in the nearest medical institution.
"In addition, these approaches include greater involvement of primary health care providers in the management of TB patients until treatment is completed. The CHIF has developed a new method of financing for the successful completion of a TB case by providing incentives to primary care workers," Boronbayeva said.
