Bishkek, June 18, 2019. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkayi Abylgaziev on June 18 held a meeting on agricultural reform, the Government’s press service reported.
During the meeting, Abylgaziev was informed about the spring field works, measures taken to finance agriculture through preferential crediting and implementation of programs on leasing agricultural machinery. Participants of the meeting noted that the economic entities that have already signed contracts with processing enterprises for the supply of their products, are the priority in lending.
Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic Erkinbek Choduyev told the prime minister about his program, which includes reforming the management structures and creating favorable conditions for the production and sale of agricultural products to the foreign market.
Choduyev said the development of food and processing industry, promotion and export of Kyrgyz agricultural products to the markets of near and far abroad, as well as the implementation of measures to digitalize the agro-industrial complex will be the priority of the work.
"More than 70% of the population lives in rural areas, which means the reform of agriculture and the agro-industrial complex’s development will have a direct impact on the lives of most of our citizens. Today, the Government is aimed at implementing effective measures and has achieved important results for this - the issue of export of agricultural products to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union has been fundamentally resolved. The Government also takes measures to increase the volume and ensure the efficiency of the use of funds allocated for lending. There is need to provide farmers and economic entities with the necessary assistance. In parallel, we have set specific tasks for financial institutions, which should conduct a thorough analysis of the use of credit funds. The Agricultural Ministry has all conditions and all the necessary political support will be provide," the prime minister said.
Touching upon the work on the input of irrigated lands, Abylgaziev stressed the importance of qualitative study of the issues of providing them with water resources and complex land reclamation, which is a main condition for the stable high production of agricultural products.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Abylgaziev gave a number of instructions to work out effective mechanisms of reforming the agricultural sector, stressing the agricultural sector's importance in strengthening the export potential of the country and the development of the regions.
