Bishkek, June 20, 2019. /Kabar/. The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Executive Committee has held in Minsk a regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member-states to Charter and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth, the press service of the Kyrgyzstan’s Embassy in Belarus reported.
Sergey Lebedev, the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, and the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives participated in the meeting. Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Kyrgyz Republic in Belarus, Aiymkan Kulukeyeva represented Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, plenipotentiary representatives discussed the results of the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government held in Ashgabat on May 31 and the tasks of implementing the documents adopted at the meeting.
A constructive exchange of views on topical issues of economic cooperation in the CIS and signing of 10 documents were held. In order to facilitate the implementation of the adopted documents, participants decided to submit a Joint Action Plan of the CIS Executive Committee in July 2019, the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives and the Economic Council on the implementation of the instructions, as well as proposals made by heads of delegations during this meeting.
Also, the members of the Council were presented with proposals for the draft agendas of the regular meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, scheduled for October 10 and 11, respectively, in Ashgabat.
Permanent representatives heard the information about the activities of the Interstate Council for Natural and Man-Made Emergencies, presented by Chairman of the Interstate Council, First Deputy Minister for Emergencies of Belarus Alexander Khudoleyev.
The next meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives is scheduled for July 26.
The Commonwealth of Independent States is a regional intergovernmental organization of 10 post-Soviet republics in Eurasia formed following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It has an estimated population of 239,796,010. The CIS encourages cooperation in economical, political and military affairs and has certain powers to coordinate trade, finance, lawmaking and security. It has also promoted cooperation on cross-border crime prevention.
