Bishkek, June 24, 2019. /Kabar/. The first Japan-Central Asia Forum on Environmental Protection was held in Tokyo on June 21.
First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov, Parliament members, and Director of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdykalyk Rustamov took part in the forum, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The program of the Forum included a set of discussion events on climate change and biodiversity, waste management, water and air pollution, as well as discussion of the efforts of participating countries to address this global agenda, exchange of experience and know-how.
The Kyrgyz side made presentations on themes "Climate change and biodiversity conservation" and "Problems of air pollution and waste management in the Kyrgyz Republic".
First Deputy Prime Minister Boronov had bilateral meetings with Minister of Environment of Japan Yoshiaki Harada and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Kenji Yamada as part of his working visit to Japan.
Harada and Boronov discussed issues of development of parliamentary relations, cooperation in the sphere of ecology, waste management and radiation safety. At the same time, the Kyrgyz side expressed an initiative to hold the second Japan-Central Asia Forum on Environmental Protection in Kyrgyzstan.
Kenji Yamada and Kubatbek Boronov exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation.
The sides stressed their mutual interest in further development of economic cooperation.
