Bishkek, June 24, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov has met with Ingo Appe, the President of the Federal Council of Austria, who has arrived in Kyrgyzstan for an official visit.
The sides discussed the current state and development prospects of Kyrgyz-Austrian cooperation, the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The Kyrgyz leader noted Ingo Appe’s official visit will contribute to the deepening of joint cooperation between the two countries.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed Kyrgyzstan’s interest in exchange of experience in building a parliamentary democracy.
The President of the Federal Council of Austria noted that he is pleased to personally discuss measures to develop bilateral relations between the two states.
He stressed that the Austrian side attaches great importance to further strengthening of bilateral cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and added that today favorable conditions have been created for increasing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Ingo Appe also expressed readiness to exchange experience on the construction and development of parliamentary democracy in the country.
The Federal Council is the upper house of the Austrian Parliament, representing the nine States of Austria on federal level. As part of a bicameral legislature alongside of the National Council, it can be compared with an upper house or a senate.
