Crime boss Batukayev testified against ex-President Atambayev – Prosecutor General

AKIPRESS.COM - Crime boss Aziz Batukayev testified against ex-President Almazbek Atambayev, Prosecutor General Otkurbek Jamshitov said in Parliament today. The Prosecutor General said ex-chief of the national security committee testified that Batukayev was released from prison unlawfully with Atambayev's involvement and by his order.
"I have copies of testimonies of Batukayev," Prosecutor General Jamshitov said and showed several pages to parliamentarians.
On June 20, Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted a resolution on bringing charges against ex-President Almazbek Atambayev to strip him of his status of ex-President. Atambayev was accused of "illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison, concealment of income, illegal land purchase, corruption in the modernization of the Bishkek power plant and the illegal supply of coal to the power plant, suppressing and persecution of opponents." General Prosecutor's office said there are elements of crime in 5 accusations except from the last one (suppressing and persecution of opponents).
