President Jeenbekov congratulates Rahmon and Tajik people on National Unity Day

Bishkek, June 27, 2019. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a telephone conversation with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon.
Jeenbekov congratulated Rahmon and people of Tajikistan on the National Unity Day, wishing peace, well-being and prosperity, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.
The Presidents also discussed topical issues of bilateral Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation, reached an agreement on accelerating the process of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
June 27 is the National Unity Day in Tajikistan to commemorate the end of the five-year civil war that raged from 1992 till 1997. On this day the President of Tajikistan typically gives a speech promoting national unity, and there are also official government ceremonies of a very solemn character held on this day.
