2nd European Games Minsk 2019 described as bright multisport forum

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – The 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 have become a bright multisport forum. The statement was made by President of the European Olympic Committees Janez Kocijancic during the closing ceremony of the games, BelTA has learned.
"The games became a true feast of European and international sport. Together with our friends and organizers from Belarus we've arranged a bright multisport forum, which scale is second only to the Olympic Games," Janez Kocijancic said.
The president of the European Olympic Committees thanked volunteers, who had made the games a truly milestone and unique event. "We had an excellent atmosphere and we are proud of the results," he said.
In the last few years the world of sports ran into many problems, the president of the European Olympic Committees noted. He described the situation as a crisis, with performance-enhancing drugs at the root of the problem. The European Olympic Committees will continue fighting for clean sport without performance-enhancing drugs. The policy observed during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 should be continued. "Although every athlete, who breaks anti-doping rules, should be punished or removed from sport, we cannot allow entire countries to be punished. Collective responsibility is unethical and inadmissible," Janez Kocijancic said. "This is why I am happy that during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 rights of the Olympic Committee of Russia were restored, that the committee confirmed its sport power by winning the largest number of medals."
In conclusion Janez Kocijancic spoke in Belarusian to thank the country and its leader for the warm welcome.
The 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 closing ceremony took place in the country's key sport arena – the National Olympic Stadium Dinamo.
