Bishkek, July 3, 2019. /Kabar/. The State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) hold a regional seminar "Central Asian network on countering and preventing violent extremism: the importance of strengthening partnerships with communities and interagency cooperation" on July 3-4 in Bishkek, the press service of the State Commission reported.
The seminar is organized to discuss further strengthening of the network and to promote the benefits of working in partnership.
"The seminar also provided a platform to discuss the current situation in countering violent extremism in Central Asia countries. Representatives of public authorities, the media community, NGOs and activists from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are taking part in at the event," the report said.
The first meeting of the Central Asian Network was held in January 2019 in Kazakhstan.
The partner of the meeting is the Program Office of the UNODC in Kyrgyzstan as part of the Central Asian network on countering and preventing violent extremism: the importance of strengthening partnerships with communities and interagency cooperation project, implemented with the support of the Governments of Sweden and Germany.
